Beverly Hills, CA -The Brent Shapiro Foundation for Drug and Alcohol Awareness’s annual Summer Spectacular Event, was just that, “Spectacular!” The event was held at an undisclosed private estate in Beverly Hills and the attendees included Larry King; a premier broadcast interviewer of modern times, Richard Lloyd and Vadim Enikeev from Diversified Global Holdings; a worldwide investment company, hotelier and real estate tycoon Rick Hilton along with his wife Kathy; and TV celebrities Kim Kardashian and Kendra Wilkinson just to name a few.

The fundraiser was hosted by the Shapiro family who held the event to show that you can have fun at an event without alcohol. Larry King set the tone when he introduced the host of the party Robert Shapiro. Brent’s story was personally told by Robert Shapiro. His son Brent died of a drug overdose in 2005 at the age of 24. After experiencing such a loss Robert started the foundation to promote, “awareness for people to know this is a disease.” An auction was hosted by Alan Thicke and among the items was a vintage car owned by Sharon Stone.

At the event Brandi Williams interviewed Larry King, Richard Lloyd and Vadim Enikeev, Rick Hilton and his wife Kathy asking them, “What’s your Story?” It’s a powerful question demonstrating that everyone has a personal story relating to the tragedies caused by this disease. Celebrities and attendees were able to share their personal stories on the topic and some of the stories are then posted on the foundation’s website to hopefully reach those in need and spread awareness for the foundation.

The Brent Shapiro Foundation’s goal is to conquer alcohol and drug dependency by turning the fear, grief and helplessness caused from this disease into awareness, compassion and support. The foundation believes that the solution to this problem is from an approach of educating, parents, teachers and children about this disease.
